Executive Director Calls on President to Act In Response To His Tweets Slamming Baltimore and Rep. Elijah Cummings

"The President is failing to lift up America in his tweets attacking Baltimore and Rep. Elijah Cummings", says Terry Lynch, Executive Director of the Downtown Cluster of Congregations. "The President and his team should be working to address the problems facing cities such as Baltimore rather than denigrating the city and in essence insulting all who live and work there. Whether it be small rural towns or large urban areas, Americans want the same things - safe, vital and active neighborhoods where they can live and work, enjoy their lives and raise their families. There are many successes to be celebrated in Baltimore and where there are problems the right thing to do is to roll up one's sleeves and get to work solving them. I call on the President to do right - be it for Baltimore as well as for other cities and towns - put in place programs that solve problems rather than using words to belittle and divide."
